Obituary

On September 20, 2020 Walter Dietrich Wode passed away at the age of 98. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian Elizabeth Wode (Sanders), loving father of Donna Marie Fridley (husband Perry) and Lauren Dee Hansen (husband Gary), cherished grandfather of Perry Linville Fridley III, Brian Dietrich Fridley (wife Julia), Jacqueline Elizabeth Hansen, Erika Dee Hansen, and great grandfather of Mia Marie Fridley.

Walter grew up in Baltimore with his 10 siblings where his family had a bakery. He served in the army during WWII. Then he married Lillian, worked for the US Post Office, and raised two children. He was a wonderful family man with a great sense of humor. In his spare time he loved to work with his hands building his own home and other carpentry work. He used his many skills to help family members and friends. Later he loved to play with his grandchildren. They adored him. When Walter moved to Charlestown in Catonsville he remained active making many friends, taking trips to the beach and even joining a clown group that entertained others.

Due to COVID-19 viewing will be held privately for the family. Friends are invited to join the family for graveside services at Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, Maryland 21784. Interment with graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 1:30 pm.
