Obituary

Walter (Walt) Johnson passed away at the age of 88 on October 5, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Walt was a loving son to the late Walter & Josephine Johnson, longtime residents of Topeka, Kansas. Beloved father of Pamela Failing of Ellicott City, MD & Jennifer Lord of Sargent, TX; cherished grandfather of Christopher Raeke, Tucker Failing, and Jessica Raeke; and great grandfather of Hailey Failing. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy Johnson.

Walt graduated from Topeka High School, was an Air Force veteran, then went to work for and retired from Western Electric Company. He lived in Parkville, MD for over 50 years, resided in the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD for 7 years, then at Lighthouse Senior Living of Ellicott City, MD for the past year. Walt was an avid bowler, Orioles fan, and especially enjoyed following his hometown Kansas City Chiefs.

Walt was a devoted husband; beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a gentle, caring man who always had a smile on his face and kind words for everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
