Patricia Louise Weyhrauch (née Norin), 88, of Ellicott City, Maryland, died January 2, 2019. She passed away peacefully at home in her sleep. Born in Harvey, North Dakota on October 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lillian H. Laurent (née Schmidt) and Alvin L. Norin and the stepdaughter of Rheome E. Laurent. She was preceded in death by her brother Wayne L. Norin and by her companion of 41 years, Daniel A. Spath.
Pat was a 1948 graduate of West High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The bulk of her early professional life was spent in property management: she was the community center director of Slayton House and the Other Barn in Columbia, Maryland; the resident manager of the Copperstone Circle and Hannibal Grove apartment complexes, also in Columbia; and the manager of the Lakeview House Retirement Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1983 she and Dan opened their own business, Time and Treasures Inc., a watch and clock shop in Ellicott City, where they enjoyed warm personal relationships with many of their customers over the next 26 years.
During breaks from the paid workforce to raise her daughters, Pat was very active in her community. She served as president of the St. John’s Lane Elementary School PTA for two years, directed the annual Christmas pageant at Mt. Hebron Presbyterian Church for a number of years, and helped to get trees planted to line her neighborhood street. She volunteered with the organization that built what was originally the North St. Johns Swim Club in Ellicott City. In her spare time, Pat enjoyed writing, arts and crafts of all types, and just about anything involving animals. She could ice skate and roller skate. She and Dan were excellent dancers.
Pat will be missed by her daughters Jill C. Williams and Beth B. McFadden, grandsons Garrett L. Toth-Williams and Hunter S. McFadden and stepdaughter Kimberly R. Spath and her wife Linda Cote. Other survivors include niece Nanci J. Norin and nephew Scott L. Norin.
The family will receive friends on Monday January 7, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. at Slack Funeral Home, P.A., 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to veterans organizations such as Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust or Hire Heroes USA, animal welfare organizations such as The Animal Welfare Society of Howard County or the ASPCA, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America would be welcomed and appreciated.
