Monica Colbert Rothe died peacefully on February 20, 2020. Born and raised in historic Ellicott City, she was a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame and later followed in her mother's footsteps to become the secretary to the chief judge of the Circuit Court of Howard County. She was an active volunteer, managed several successful local political campaigns, and was the chair of the Ellicott City Bicentennial headquarters during the 1972 celebration. She was always singing.
Monnie was the beloved wife of the late Jack F. Rothe, cherished mother of Monica Fabbri and her husband Bill, Alicia Daum and her husband Brian, John Rothe and his wife Christine, and the late James Rothe. After being widowed at far too young an age, she found love again and was the dear long-time Precious of George A. Purring, Jr., becoming loving stepmother to his children Pat Hornby and her husband John, Greg Purring and his wife Jackie, Todd Purring and his wife Kim. She also leaves to cherish her memory 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
There were great heartaches in her life, but also great loves, world travel, and a large blended family who loved her and who will always remember her vivacious personality.
