Obituary

John C. Hoffman, son of the late William V. Hoffman and the late Hilda (Schleicter) Hoffman passed January 11, 2020 at his home in Friendsville, MD. He was born in Baltimore on September 24, 1926 and was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Rinner, William V. Hoffman, Jr., Paul Hoffman and Elizabeth Dors.

John was a World War II Veteran having served in Japan. Upon his discharge from the military he worked at the Odenton, MD Plastic Plant Chevron Branch until it closed in 1981. He then went on to work as a Guard for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Glen Burnie until he retired in 1990. He was a life member of the VFW where he was very active.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pauline (Brandenburg) Hoffman. He is survived by his children John N. Hoffman and his wife Mariam, Donald E. Hoffman and Sharon F. Hall and her husband Mike, grandchildren Nicholas J. Coomes and his wife Marilyn, Christopher M. Coomes, Robert “Robby” Murphy, step grandchildren, Wendy and Travis Bieler, great grandchildren, Gabrael and Brock Coomes, Jordyn and Patton Yoder, Marie and Chelse Bieler. Mr. Hoffman is also survived by his siter-in-law Doris Brandenburg, Barbara Myers, Linda Shown and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Friends and family may call Monday February 3, 2020 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Slack Funeral Home, P.A., 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Graveside services and Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Rd., Sykesville, MD 21784
